CEOWORLD Magazine: Linkedin is a networking winner!

One of the best uses that I feel will emerge very soon (I can personally vouch for it) is using LinkedIn for recruitment. I am the promoter of a fitness firm and have already started looking for people and contacting them so that I can employ them in the future.

For novices who are looking for guidance on how the use LinkedIn properly, such articles are a great help. I would also recommend networking expert Jan Vermeiren's new book "How to REALLY use LinkedIn". You can find a free lite version at http://www.how-to-really-use-linkedin.com/

I agree fully with most of what you are saying here. In fact I post regularly on this subject myself. To date I have done very well out of LinkedIn in 2009, it is like a 24/7 trade show that everyone came to.

But it is not about B2C marketing, this is where it falls down for a lot of people and why some group managers seem to think they have the right to spam everyone.

IN fact, when I asked the if group managers should have the right to download your email address most people were aghast.

I think it is a good move rather than a bad one on that front.

    Great post, Jeff!

LinkedIn is such an amazing tool. I second all of the points you have made about how to use LinkedIn to better develop your network and improve your career search!

There are also some other ways you can use LinkedIn in your job search efforts. Check out our article at http://www.careerrocketeer.com/2009/05/find-you...

I agree with you Nikhil. Social media should be a personal experience and not tainted by those capitalizing on spam posts. Unfortunately the more spam the less effective the site. Eventually people will move on to more spam free networking sites.
